Child entrepreneurs were a success Posted on 08 Jun 2009 by Luanne Belcourt
Square Butte Trading Post hosted a barbacue and flea market in May. We invited the community to set up tables at no cost. These individuals sold their treasures along highway 87, and all made a few dollars. We had two child entrepreneurs, Dezmond Big Bow,age 8 and Henry webster, age 10. Dezmond put up his gently used toys and clothes for sale, and hired his cousin Henry to be his assistant. Their goal was to make enough money to buy a new x-box 360 game. They met their goal! We encourage other child entrepreneurs to set up tables in the future. Don't worry folks, the children were working in 80 degrees weather, but we provided shade, cold drinks, food, and labor, so they came out okay.
New workers Posted on 08 Jun 2009 by Luanne Belcourt
Square Butte Trading Post has several new workers that have joined our team. Two new Stone Child College Business graduates Jamie Gonzales and Sable Littlesun have joined SBTP. Jamie Gonzales will be working on writing reports and updating our financal records, utilizing Quik In software. Sable Little Sun will be working on updating SBTP correspondence and linking SBTP to various busineess and other Native American organizations. Both have business and computer skills so we are fortunate to have them on our team.
SBTP also has a new marketing director, Dawn Houle, who lives in Seattle, and is currently working with a New York client who is interested in having our company make necklaces. She is also working with the Seattle-Perugia Sister City Association on purchases that will be sold in Italy.
You'll find other updates as you explore the website. I am working on a new layout right now so you'll be seeing that launched in the very near future.
Thanks!
